Overview
Dead Weight is a comic book published by Dame Dash Studios, an multimedia company producing films, books, and apparel. Adapted from a screenplay and featuring strong female leads, the story combines social commentary and genre twists. I designed characters, layouts, illustrations and marketing materials.
Challenge
Working from the original script, I was responsible for transforming it into a compelling comic. I handled every stage of production under tight deadlines, including adaptation, character and environment design, greyscale coloring, lettering, and balloon placement.
Approach
I established compositions that translated cinematic pacing into sequential storytelling, and designed distinctive characters and settings that reflected the story’s tension and glamour. To unify the book, I developed a greyscale style that balanced clarity with atmosphere and allowed to project maintain a high degree of polish while under a tight deadline.
Results
The finished comic delivered a polished, print-ready book that successfully adapted a film script into a dynamic visual narrative. I created a cohesive, industry-standard product that met the studio’s needs while showcasing strong character work and immersive world building.
